Driver CPC
We are already an approved centre for DCPC delivery, please contact us if you have any questions. As you may be aware there are some significant changes for drivers of LGV and PCV vehicles that will affect us all.
For PCV drivers the new training will take affect from 10th Sept 08 and for LGV vehicles 10th Sept 09
What will this mean or you?
For existing drivers
For existing licence holders, that is those who hold a full PCV of LGV licence before the dates above, to maintain their licence they will need to complete 35 hours of training at a registered and approved centre over a period of 5 years.
This is not as worrying as it may seem, and if the training is carried out to the required standard will benefit both drivers and employers to ensure they are up to date with the latest techniques and regulations.
The training can be carried out to suit the driver and employer and can be done all at once, or in 7-hour sessions over the 5 years. 
The training can be tailored to suit the driver and employer and can be on any subject as long as it relates to the driver carrying out his job and there is an approved programme available.
The training can be both practical or theory based and can be individual to you or carried out in groups as appropriate.

Tachographs and Drivers Hours
ADR (Core, Packages and 7 Classes will cover 21 hours of DCPC periodic training)

There is also work going on to link the training to the Level 2 NVQ’s, this would mean all your training could form part of an integrated training programme to ensure that drivers are both professional and competent and have the qualifications to prove it.
For new drivers wishing to gain their LGV or PCV licence from the dates mentioned above you will need to follow the new test structure.
Module 1 – Licence acquisition theory test – 100 multi choice questions and 19 hazard perception clips
Module 2 – Driver CPC theory test -1½ hours Case Study questions
Module 3 – Licence acquisition practical test - 1½ hours practical driving test
Module 4 – Driver CPC practical test – 30 minutes practical demonstration of vehicle safety
The current age limit of 21 years old has also been reduced to 18 years old for those candidates who are enrolled on an appropriate apprenticeship programme, this means that the training can be funded through the LSC or Train to Gain depending on eligibility.
