B+E training is essential for drivers who need to tow trailers, horseboxes, or caravans professionally or recreationally. This course helps you build the skills and knowledge to tow safely, meet DVSA standards, and pass your B+E driving test.
What is B+E (Car and Trailer Towing) Training?
The B+E Trailer Towing Training course is designed for drivers who need to tow trailers, caravans, horseboxes, or similar loads using a car or light van. While the B+E entitlement is now automatically included on most UK car licences issued after autumn 2021, formal training is still highly recommended to ensure safe, legal, and confident towing—especially for work or commercial use. This course focuses on practical skills like coupling, reversing, and road awareness, helping you tow with precision and peace of mind.
What's Included?
- Full-day or half-day training options, depending on experience level.
- Vehicle and trailer hire (or use your own, if preferred).
- Practical instruction on coupling/uncoupling, reversing, and manoeuvring.
- On-road driving practice with a trailer, including safety checks and legal requirements.
- Assessment and feedback from experienced instructors.
- Certificate of completion for your records or employer.
Entry Requirements
- Must be 17 years or older.
- Hold a valid UK Category B (car) driving licence with B+E entitlement.
- Your photocard licence must be in date (renewed every 10 years).
- No prior towing experience required, but helpful for course duration planning.
