Driving for Work Policy: What do Employers Need to Know?


Driving for work is one of the biggest risks your employees face, yet it is still one of the most overlooked areas of compliance.


In 2026, expectations around employer responsibility are clear. If your staff drive as part of their role, health and safety law applies in full. It does not matter whether they are in a company vehicle or their own car. The responsibility still sits with you.


The issue is simple. Many organisations still do not have a formal Driving for Work Policy in place.

Every week, people are seriously injured while driving for work. In many cases, there has been no structured approach to managing that risk.
